Boston Copley Station (Historical Headhouse): Complete Removal, Disassembly, Repair/Restoration, Refinishing and Reinstallation
This project at the Boston Copley Station (Historical Headhouse) involved the complete removal, disassembly, repair/restoration, refinishing and reinstallation of the entire headhouse, pictured here. The original structure was installed in the early 1900s and had fallen into a state of disrepair. Many original castings and forged components had fallen away and had to be replicated.
Fortunately, due to the symmetry of the design, there were many existing components from which to mold/model new components. The project included the restoration of the cast iron panels and steel windows on the interior of the structure.
